The tropical coral reef is one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. It is also one of the most stunningly beautiful. It is the fantastic diversity that attracts many people to the reef-keeping hobby. This idea of diversity runs through the hobby in many ways, from the various walks of life each of us comes from, to the many different, yet equally beautiful creatures we keep in our aquariums.

While it’s easiest to say that we love our tanks as a whole, including all of their inhabitants, the fact of the matter is that we can’t help but have a few favorites. There is that rarely seen wrasse that we’ve sought for so long, and only recently obtained. Or that original clownfish that was purchased before any test kits, which continues to entertain with its antics, so many years later. And of course who can deny that one piece of coral or unusually colored clam that took so long to grow into something larger than a thumb!

We all have very different aquariums, and very different tastes. But one thing that we share is our pride and joy in those special specimens we enjoy watching in our tanks every day. And who doesn’t like to show off every once in a while? So this month we celebrate that special centerpiece. From fish, to coral, to clam, to other invertebrate, please take some time to enjoy the great variety found in the favorite centerpieces from Reef Central’s diverse members!
